Do Antidepressants Work Part I
To understand the answer to this question you must understand how efficacy data is presented and what gets published in medical journals. Most of the data that gets published is overwhelmingly positive. Very few if any negative trials are published and in 2008 Turner and colleagues brought this to our attention in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). What they discovered was the FDA data base had an even split 50% negative and 50% positive studies when it came to antidepressants

The devils drug along with all other anti-depressants for long term treatment. People need to learn how to grieve and do therapy / EMDR. People don't want to put in the work for a permanent fix to their mental health problems and big pharma is more than willing to step in. Don't end up a doped up zombie who can't get an erection.

Myth. Well, it gave me such intense anxiety my forearms got a charlie horse. Insomnia for the first time in my life. Intense dreams that lasted all night; felt like I was never getting REM sleep. Soaking in sweat. Either too hot or too cold. This went on for a month after stopping and still persists to an extent. Celexa or vybriid never came close to anything like that. So many of these youtube channels are just ads for the medication.

I avoided taking any prescription drugs for years. However, recently my anxiety had reached a point wear nothing else was helping and it was probably only going to get worse. So, I reluctantly took myself to the doctors and expressed everything. She wanted to do other tests with my other health issues. So, now I'm on: cholesterol meds, 15mg Mirtazapine, and Metformin. I think the combination with Mirtazapine and Metformin really helps. I think they balance my appetite out as they are the opposite. So, I've actually lost a kilo so far. Though it's only been a few weeks on them. I still have broken sleep. But, it is a much deeper, more restful sleep. So far, I'm happy with Mirtazapine!

This combo made me so sick. The worst symptom was my brain literally felt like it was on fire, like pure heat inside my skull, never felt anything like it and never want to again. I had super dilated pupils, mania, felt shaky on the inside, prickly feeling all over my body, tremors, chills… I called an emergency doctor and she said you are on far too much medication 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was told by the mental health team I had to completely be off mirtazapine to go onto venlafaxine but my doctor had other ideas.

I was recently prescribed 100mg Gabapentin per night for neck pain/headaches/tension. I did my homework and I see more horror stories than good ones. So I’m not too confident about starting down this path. And as you said, it does minimal for back pain so I assume the same can be said for neck. What other safer alternatives are there? And is the low dose I was prescribed less prone to any of the adverse side effects and withdrawals or it’s the same regardless of dosage and frequency taken?

Is there any way you can give me feedback regarding this medication combine with Pristic and Lamictal?. Originaly I was taking Lamictal 200mg once a day, Pristiq 50mg once a day and Eskalith 300mg once a day. Now my doctor stopped Eskalith, increased Pristiq to 100mg a day, Lamictal still in 200mg a day and added Abifily 5mg once a day. I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and anxiety.

I had a really bad Benzo addiction and Gabapentin saved my life I was able to stop my Adivan cold turkey while going right on high doses of Gabapentin, yes there was some anxiety but there were no Benzo withdraws with the Gabapentin, this was not some placebo effect either, the gabapentin really worked, and I'm still on it three years later for anxiety, yes it may not work as good as benzo but it is working really well for me without that horrible benzo addiction so can you explain this

I lost about 50 pounds my first year on it (buproprion 300 xl) without exercise, I just didn't have the appetite or interest in food and I could get full from a few bites of food and not want it anymore. It's been 3 years in it and I've gained all 50 of those pounds back plus another 50. My appetite is out of control, and I'm constantly thinking about food and what I will eat next. I have zero energy. When I work out, I just get even more tired and hungry. Don't know what to do anymore, but feel like it's ruined my metabolism.

What I think would of great value from you dr Rossi, would be reviewing of these videos with what clinical knowledge you have enriched your views and therapeutical mind. Maybe do a case review that would be of educational value for medical students, GPS and nurses. We can all read leaflets and maybe pick up a textbook or two and maybe even a research article but what does dr Rossi thinks when looking at me or somebody else, there is no book that can get me the clinical day-to-day of why and how

Yes they do don't blame it on the disease, if you do go get lost, you're a worthless shrink. Neurotoxic medication and cerebral atrophy go hand in hand. Your colleagues out of the sixties studies it as having a beneficial effect even since it gets absorbed where the brain is most active, where the problem is it gets absorbed. Bit we also need a brain. Anhedonia can be caused by it and many negative symptoms if you think it is innocent take it for yourself a year. Don't forget to taper of since even healthy test subjects can get a psychosis if they suddenly stop. Thank you also for your standard medication answer from our farmacuetical 'friends' whom you make very happy by saying it is also very usefull. If you would spend one day in my shoes you would run away screaming bloody murder. That's what it is brain destruction. Most shrinks who are positive about medication are sponsored by those 'friends'. Deprescribing is hard but has a better long term outcome. Especially long term use has a worse outcome. So since you have the means try an old school class 1 antipsychotics component for a week in doses that cause very bad symptoms you will not last for a day doing that. Try a modern antipsychotic for a year yourself. See how you 'inprove' and than at least you are no longer a person whononly knows from hearsay what they do because all shrinks are and are very afraid to even try it on themselves, however they protest the real healing methods like the finish Open dialogue methode or any method that uses lees medication. The advantage of these methods is that shrinks can focus backbone the more biological components of their job for the ones who need it and a team usually consisting of a psychiatric nurse leading a team of peers ( Peer supported open dialogue ) can help people get out of psychosis or even manic psychosis and waitiing lists do disappear. And people do feel better. But surely we should gonna with a healing model with 0% recovery no more no less since it is deemed a chronic illness whilst Open dialogue method has a 86 % healing level. It takes on average 2 years to get somebody there. Yes there will always be people who need healing but doctors like to manage illness they don't heal at all especially farmacuetical companies benefit from that. Greetings from a long term patiënt who got in with some sleep problems and a drug induced psychosis. I know there are better ways let's not pursue them and flush money down the toilet. In the Netherlands where I live 6.000.000.000 euro a year on a population of 17 million. Maybe it is not illegal in america to be crazy but here it is. Research the Rozenhan experiment and the statistics used afterward 'proved' that half of the western civilisation us nuts. Bad news ? Not at all our pharmaceutical company friends now have a pill for everyone and everything, only problem the government and people cannot pay for it... So there lies the problem you see, you can heal from a psychosis by enough sleep for instance and the right kind of talk therapy, and sometimes a low dosage of medication so we can still keep things affordable, but our pharmaceutical 'friends' have list all sense of reality wanting more than possibly available, if they make medications that really heal alll kinds of things people would be standing in line for them and we would all be healthy and usefull people with a meaning in life and a purpose, but they rather act like drug dealers squeezing sonkuchinry out of our governments and assurance that it has become unrealistic what they do. So yeah that will help.

does Mirtazapine 45mg. at bedtime & Clonazepam 0.5 three times a day make me feel tired? I was given Clonazepam 0.5 for my taste as I was treated for throat cancer. Stopped it cold turkey & was a mess. Anxious, not sleeping, crying. Put me on Xanax 0.5 at bedtime which did not work. Put me back on 15 mg. Mirtazapine & Clonazepam 0.5 twice a day. Now they put me on Mirtazapine 45mg. at bedtime & Clonazepam 0.5 three times a day. I have depression & anxiety which I try to control but it's always in the back of my mind that cancer can come back. I have been trying to find a psychiatrist who takes Medicare & AARP but to no avail. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance for your time. Mollie Paolisso
